A New Friend

When we go the park and other dogs are there, we sometimes have to stop Charlie and Vinny because boxers play by, well, boxing. They get on their back legs and 'hit' other dogs (or each other when they are playing). They play the 'normal' dog way too - chasing balls, frisbee, tag, etc; but, they usually greet other dogs my hitting them in the face. Today I just let them play with the other dog because he was a boxer too! His name is Ace and they played with him for about an hour - the boxer way.

It's Finals Week!!

It's finals week!!!!
Because I haven't had the time to post anything, I thought some pictures of my study buddies would be appropriate. I am usually using my macbook to study (since that's where I take my notes) so, I use the webcam and take pictures - sorry about the bad quality. Here are a few:

Actually at my desk - Vinny wanted to help
Please refrain from making fun of my snuggie!!
Vinny is my usually study buddy. But every once in a while Charlie likes to make an appearance.

Since this is a blog about our lives with the dogs, I thought i'd share that all four of us pilgrimaged to Pittsburgh to not only look at a house, but put an offer on it!!! We are so excited! It has a big back yard for the Charlie and Vinny!  -- We'll keep you posted on if we get it!

Road Trip!!!

Update: Well, we didn't get the house. Boo. Another offer went in the same day as ours and us being first time home buyers, they didn't really want to work with us. (I don't really understand why -- but it'sok) I was upset because it was an amazing house (which i've already designed a kitchen for and decorated in my head), but, we will keep searching and hopefully find another we love just as much!

Vinny Vs. The Waves

I'm working on a retro-blog and as i'm going through old movies and pictures I found this video:

I'm going to start using You Tube for their video's so they can be viewed on a phone or tablet.

The channel is names CharlesAndVincent, I have several movies of them on there already.

Pic of the day

I downloaded a new blogger app for my iphone and I wanted to try it out. I think I'm going to start posting a picture every day I do not write a long blog.

They killed more beds yesterday....I'm about to give up on beds.

(Zombie dogs ate their beds)

90% Cute - 10% Bad

…and when they are bad...they are really bad.

I always forget how bad they can be until they do something to remind me. Recently I have been taking them out to the side yard to, well you know what. The side yard has a perfect view of the road that goes in front of the house, where as, the back yard is more private (but the back yard is a muddy mess from the snow melting). Since we were only going to be out there for a moment I failed to put on their no-pull harnesses (which really work!). They just had their regular old collars on and I hardly had a grip of their leashes when a lady with a dog walked by. I mentioned the back yard was a mess, well, the side yard wasn’t much better. They both pulled towards the lady while I was trying to stop myself from sliding across the yard. Yes, picture me skiing across the grass yelling, “No, stop, no.”  Now, my pups have been getting a lot better at pulling during walks à unless they see another dog. They want to play with any dog they see so badly that nothing makes them stop - not even treats (we’re working on it).  I couldn’t even stop while on the concrete. I finally got them to stop and noticed how terrified the lady was with her little dog. I assure, my dogs would have done nothing but went over to sniff the dog, but they can be pretty intimidating when you’re not used to a 60lb puppy.

Well, I was so mad at them it made me think of all the past times I’ve been mad at them…..Get ready.

Vinny eats shoes.
Not just any shoes…It’s only my work/school shoes. It’s my patent yellow leather Steve Madden flats, or my blue suede loafers (You can do anything but lay off my blue suede shoes). He also has a thing for Tony’s slippers; I allow Vinny to have them, because then he stays away from my shoes. :)

Shoe’s are nothing, though.
We have gone through 5 beds because Charlie likes to destroy them. We have even tried to lay down towels for them while we are at work so they don’t have to lay on the floor, well, we are running out of towels.

Here, they took the beds out of their crates so that could destroy them in front of me. I obviously took a picture before stopping them.

Here's a movie of what Charlie did to his first bed.

One day I get an email from Tony, entitled, “Our dogs did some demo.” So many thoughts went through my mind before I opened the email. I though maybe they killed another bed or knocked over their food bin - something that just made a mess. No. I get this picture:

Yes, that is a 6-inch hole in the middle of my apartment wall.
I was mad about the hole in my wall, but at least it was fixable with out telling my land-lord (We fixed it, just needs painted, now.)

Here is the best one.
We have ‘nanny cams’ set up to watch the dogs while we are at work. Don’t laugh. I was at school one day and I wanted to check up on them. I looked at the live video on my phone and I see Charlie scratching at the floor. I couldn’t make out what it was….well, it was the floor. He scratched a hole through the floor and ripped up the linolium…as I said before –I rent this place and this is not fixable with out letting the landlord know.

But then, the other 90% of the time they are so cute that I can’t stay mad at them for long – and soon I forget how bad they can get.

Thanks for reading :)

Play Time

Every night we have "play time' in our basement so they can be as loud as they want for a little bit. You'll see the basement is half study room - half play room.

Charlie isn't always the sweet one.

After we play in the basement for a while, they usually go to sleep.

Snow Boxers

Last weekend when we took the boxers to the park it was wet and muddy and they needed a bath as soon as we got home. This week, there is 6 inches of snow. Snow makes going to the park a little difficult. We have to worry about the roads being bad and about getting too cold, especially Charlie and Vinny getting too cold. We also have to worry about the pads on their feet, because when they run on ice they get hurt. So, we have a Boxer Snow Survival Kit.

Ok, it's not really a survival kit, but there are a few things we have to get before we go play in the snow. The first thing is their winter jackets. I know, why would a dog need a jacket. Boxers get cold really fast. Boxers were originally breaded to be war dogs in Germany(says the history channel), but since they couldn't take the cold/heat they didn't make the cut. So, boxers need jackets. We want them to be able to play as long as possible to make them tired.

The jackets we have for them (which were a gift from the in-law's) are from L.L.Bean.

We also have to put something on the pads of their feet. Snow shoes will not work for them. They won't walk in shoes and they tear them off. 'Pad Guard' works well. We've went in the snow with out any foot protection before and they got blisters, now, no blisters.

So, here are some pics from today. Don't they look so cute in their coats?
[Warning: I like action shots]

...and here's a close-up of Vinny's face.

Like I 've said before, we are working on catching the frisbee.

Notice Vinny's face, again.

They liked the Cross Country Skier.

Then we ended the day with a walk.

Here is why we go to the park. Shhhh, they're sleeping.

I've been showing some things I do to keep my dogs from being too hyper all day. What do you do? I've heard putting a backpack on them during walks would help....anyone ever try that?
-Thanks for Reading!
